DREAM SYMBOLS
Dreams love to speak to us in symbol and metaphor.

“Our dream images, even if we don’t remember them, invade our waking awareness as patterns.  By these patterns we live.  By not recognizing them, we live unconsciously.”

  • Fred Alan Wolf, The Dreaming Universe
Our dreams speak a language unique to each of us. If you love cats, a cat in your dreams may be a positive symbol. For someone who decidedly prefers dogs, a cat may have an entirely different connotation, and what that cat is or isn't doing is also significant.

Similarly, what the color blue evokes for me may be quite different from what it evokes for you, given our personal associations, preferences and experiences. Perhaps the color blue dominating your dream isn't spotlighting a color at all but some nuance of meaning in the word "blue."

A creative solution to a problem may be hidden in an elaborate dream story that, at first glance, seems bizarre and unrelated to anything. Is a leaf simply hinting of autumn, or expressing a bittersweet regret for something or someone left behind?

Becoming familiar with your own dreams symbols and the way your dream stories unfold is key to unlocking the messages and guidance your dreams bring.
